how it works...

NetTech Services operates a server called the Automated Remote Backup System (ARBS). This server is the recipient of all the backup data sent by your machine. Each night it accepts the data, verifies it and stores it on-line, available to you at any time after.

Your computer wakes up at a scheduled time, collects the files that have been marked for backup, compresses them, encrypts them, and then connects to the ARBS via modem, DSL, or cable modem and uploads the files. These files are the ones that have changed during the day, so total time to run the backup is usually very short.

Your data is secure since it is encrypted with a code only you know, and the value of your data is now safe at an off-site location and available to you whenever you need to recover a file. Backups are stored for as long as you determine you need them.

Each day, the data stored on the server is saved to a separate remote site, and a tape backup is made of the previous day's storage.

Once a week, the server itself is completely backed up to tape which is then also stored off-site.

Your data can also be archived for as long as you wish, for an additional minimal fee.

The advantages to a typical business are enormous:

  1. There is no need to hire additional personnel or even purchase any equipment.
  2. All files are protected by state of the art encryption, only the customer with the encryption key can read the files.
  3. Completely automated off-site protection.
  4. Fast online recovery of any version of any protected file.
  5. Easy installation and setup.
  6. Only an internet connection is required, eliminating the need for expensive backup equipment and media.
